DAY 2 JERUSALEM 7/3/12
If the first day was good, what would the second day bring? One word: AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!!
We started off by a walk on the Old City Walls. We walked on the city walls, AWESOME!!!! We got some awesome pics.

After we did the walk, we go to the Mosque of the Ascension. The exact spot where Jesus ascended to heaven from, there's even a stone commemorating the exact spot, supposedly.

Then we went to Garden of Gethsemane, but it was closed. Oh yeah, everything closes at 12pm and doesn't open till 2pm. So instead we went to an beautiful olive tree garden on the mount of olives right above the Garden of Gethsemane.

Then we headed to the City of David where the pool of Siloam and the tunnel of Hezekiah is. We paid our fee and went in. At the ticket window I was told that we needed water shoes and a flashlight and that the water level was about thigh high. I was thinking of using my phone as a flashlight and just take my running shoes that I was wearing. Leti and Mom went as they were. We put our stuff in the lockers and were ready.

We start descending the lighted stairs into the tunnel then everything went dark and I forgot my phone in the locker. So went blind into the tunnel with running water. As soon as you get in the water starts rising to thigh level, well at least my height. Leti got wet to her hips, Mom did too. So the only light we had was the flash of our camera. After a little walk the water level went down to our ankles but were in complete darkness. We follow the tunnel in it's winding way. I was in front shooting the flash every 50' or so, then Leti and my Mom were right behind me. We finally caught to some people who had a guide and we heard him tell them about the plaque that was hung commemorating the location where the diggers from opposite sides met. It's a very interesting engineering feat. If you have time look up "Hezekiah's tunnel".

The tunnel's exit was at the pool of Siloam. We then had a choice of going on a walk or take a taxi back to the City of David or go through another tunnel. We chose the latter. The tunnel had no water but it was just cool going thru another tunnel. On exiting the tunnel we were on a actual archaeological dig. Pretty COOL!!!

Once we finished with the tunnel we grab our stuff and left. We had to go back to Tel Aviv to return the car. Because we were on the other side of the city we hailed a taxi. He wanted $50 Shekels just to take us around. What????? We told him to take a hike, and we took one too. We had to go thru the city. Then the girls found a shop that had stuff they wanted to see. 30 minutes and a few hundred Shekels later, we were out of there. Hurrying back to Tel Aviv to return the car and didn't make it. Which turned out to be a good thing, because we needed a way to the convention. What a day!!!!!!
