Sorry about the delayed posts. We finally arrived in a place where the internet is steadily on and not intermittent. I'm trying to do as much posting while here.

After 30 something hours of flights and layovers we finally arrived in Africa. More specifically the city of Cape Town in South Africa. Wearing our convention badges we were hoping to encounter more delegates and we did arriving into Cape Town. A couple from N. California.

Month and a half of packing |
Our goal was to only take carry-ons but, once we found out how much it would cost to send our convention gifts thru Fedex we had no choice but to check bags in.
Don’t get me wrong we succeeded in fitting all our clothes into one carry on bag. The problem was we forgot to check that the airline also has a weight policy on the carry on bag. So it doesn’t just have be to small enough but, only weigh a certain amount. So no matter what we had to check in our carry-on bags as well. In doing so we ended up checking in a total of 4 bags, 2) with our gifts and our 2) carry-ons.
It was funny though, I helped several people lift their bag in to the luggage compartment in the plane and those bags were way heavier than ours. Once we arrived in Cape Town, exactly what I was afraid of, my luggage was lost. According to the airline it was put in the other plane that was arriving in the afternoon. They got the address where we were staying and they said it would be delivered late afternoon. Late afternoon came and went and no delivery. No phone and no email, no way to communicate. Around 10am next morning my luggage was delivered. Good timing, because the meeting we were going to was at 11:30.

The congregation was very happy to have us there. There was another family of delegates from the states there. One brother approached us after the meeting and said to us, "We take care of all our brothers visiting, so that family will be taking care of the other family of delegates and this family will be taking care of you. So go with them. And if you come to the meeting on Wednesday there will be another family taking care of you then". We felt good our brothers were taking care of us.
And they did, not only did they take us out for a quick lunch they also made arrangements so another couple could take us out and about to see some of the sites.
